The HI-FLO filter utilizes a Venturi backing plate to provide the maximum air flow to our smallest filter. Machined 6061 aluminum body, includes stainless mesh, stainless hardware and a washable foam element.

For those who want to know more. The Venturi effect describes fluid passing through a constricted area, much like air flowing through your carb. As we decrease the area for air to enter, we lose pressure but gain velocity. At low speeds, this increase in velocity helps maintain atomization, avoiding fuel drop in your intake. At high speeds, the increase in velocity can help deliver air to your motor when it needs it most. While riding at a moderate RPM, air travels through your carb and reaches your intake valve without an issue, but when you snap open your throttle the motor's demand for air increases. At high RPMs, each cylinder must be filled with air fuel mixture at a fraction of the time you had while the bike was idling. At very high RPMs, air simply can not make it in time to fill each combustion chamber. A decrease in area, increasing speed but maintaining adequate pressure, will provide air faster to each cylinder when air delivery is critical. The air needle you see inside the HI-FLOW filter increases intake velocity, promotes linear air flow, and hopefully allows your motor to work at its full potential. This picture is of course not complete without runner length, cam duration, valve spring pressure, etc… at our shop we cannot build a perfect air filter for every variable. The HI-FLO is designed for 74-80 inch motors and those who want style and function in the smallest of packages.

This Air Cleaner is made to fit a CV carburetor and EFI (electronic fuel injection) throttle body, as found on 1991-2020 Harley-Davidson XL Sportsters. On Sportsters the CV carb and EFI bolt pattern are the same. It also works on EFI (fuel injected) Dyna models from 2004-2017 and 1993-2006 Harley-Davidson Big Twins that have a CV carb. It will not work on any fuel injected FL, Softail or Touring model as the bolt pattern for those models will be different
